Editing in TandemLoop requires an active subscription. Without a subscription, the app stays in read-only mode: you can see all your data but can’t change anything. This chapter explains what the subscription includes and what’s possible in read-only mode.
The Subscription
There’s a monthly and an annual subscription. Both apply on Mac, iPad, and iPhone at the same time with the same Apple Account and can be shared with Family Sharing. The subscription screen shows you the price and period in your local currency, and for the annual subscription also the savings compared with paying monthly for twelve months.
New users get one month free. The free trial starts when you subscribe; after that, the subscription renews automatically at the selected price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Each Apple Account gets the free trial only once.
You see the subscription screen once at first launch and after that every time you want to change something without an active subscription.
Read-Only Mode
| Possible | Locked |
|---|---|
| Viewing tasks, projects, and views | Creating, editing, completing |
| Searching, switching between views | Moving, reordering, deleting |
| Expanding and collapsing (until the next launch) | Quick Entry, Shortcuts, share sheet |
| Opening the data folder in the Finder | Checking off in widgets, actions in notifications |
Every attempt to change something opens the subscription screen. At the bottom of the sidebar (on iPhone, above the tab bar), the notice Subscription not active reminds you of this; tapping Subscribe takes you straight to subscribing.
Your data stays yours. In read-only mode, TandemLoop doesn’t change any file in the data folder. Whatever your AI agent changes directly in the files is still shown by the app. Notifications about due tasks keep arriving, just without the Complete, Later, and Tomorrow buttons.
Share sheet without a subscription—Whatever you send to TandemLoop with the share sheet on iPhone or iPad is saved for later and lands in the Inbox as soon as you subscribe.
After subscribing, restoring, or renewing, you can edit again right away, without restarting and on all your devices. TandemLoop then creates any follow-up tasks of recurring tasks that became due during read-only mode.
Managing Your Subscription
Settings › Subscription
| Item | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Status | for example, Free trial until …, Annual subscription active, renews on …, Expired on … |
| Subscribe | Only in read-only mode; opens the subscription screen |
| Manage Subscription | Opens subscription management for your Apple Account (switch, cancel) |
| Restore Purchases | Restores an existing subscription, for example, on a new device |
Without internet—If you’ve paid, you won’t be locked out offline: without a connection, the last known state applies until TandemLoop can check again. If there’s a payment problem, the app stays fully usable during the App Store grace period.
