Every task, project, and milestone has an Inspector on the right side, where you can read and edit all properties of the selected item. In addition, you can rename titles inline, directly in the sidebar or list.
The Inspector
Click an item to select it—the Inspector opens on the right and shows:
| Section | Content |
|---|---|
| Header | Title (one click is enough to change it), location (for tasks, clicking it opens Move To…), ⋯ menu, and trash can |
| Handback | only for tasks the AI agent has handed back: its note and your responses |
| Spec | for tasks: entry point to the spec page |
| Properties | Status, assignment (Human / AI), for tasks
the delegation (Do, Draft, Ask),
for projects the project type |
| Tags | Tag picker for assigning and removing tags |
| Date fields | Tasks: Do Date, Due Date (optionally with a time), Reminder, Repeat; milestones: Do Date, Due Date |
| Project fields | Intent, success criteria, reference folder (milestones: success criteria) |
| Attributes | Custom fields (for example, client, budget)—appears only if attributes apply to or are set for the item |
| Conversation / Notes | Tasks: the log of entries (with Full Screen); projects, milestones, and folders: a notes field (Markdown) |
| Metadata footer | Created, Modified, and for tasks the number |
All fields can be edited directly in the Inspector. Changes are saved immediately.
Creating happens in the list. You type new tasks, milestones, and projects directly into an input line in the middle column. Only where there’s no suitable list (for example, in views or for folders) does a form open in the Inspector—which expands automatically for it.
At the top right of the Inspector, next to the trash can, you find the ⋯ menu with the same commands as in the row’s context menu (Rename, Status, Due Date, Tags, Duplicate, Copy Link, and so on). On the Mac, Edit › Edit Title and Edit Notes take you straight to the respective field.
On iPhone, tapping a task opens its detail page with the same fields; Move, Spec, and Delete are in the ⋯ menu at the top right there.
Renaming Inline
You don’t have to switch to the Inspector to rename an item. Every title can be edited where it appears—tasks, milestones, and projects in the middle column, areas, folders, and projects in the sidebar:
| Method | Where |
|---|---|
| Right-click › Rename (iPad/iPhone: touch and hold) | everywhere |
| ↩︎ (Return) with the item selected—as in the Finder | middle column |
| Double-click the title | task and milestone rows, title in the Inspector (a single click is enough) |
| Menu bar › Item › Rename | Mac |
In the text field: ↩︎ or a click elsewhere confirms, ⎋ cancels and restores the old name. An empty title isn’t saved. After renaming, a notice with Undo appears at the bottom; it stays as long as the pointer rests on it. Alternatively, you reverse the change with ⌘ + Z (Edit › Undo)—even later—and ⇧ + ⌘ + Z restores it. In a text field, ⌘ + Z first applies to the text you’ve typed.
Tip—Double-clicking a project or folder card opens it (as in the Finder); you rename it with ↩︎ or the context menu. If a task is in a view without a list row (board, table, calendar), Rename jumps to the title in the Inspector.
