The Proposal System

How Proposals Are Created

Contents

Proposals are created by your external AI tool and appear in the app automatically—you don’t need to import or load them in TandemLoop.

The Path of a Proposal

Behind the scenes, the process is simple:

  1. The AI analyzes your data folder—tasks, projects, milestones, tags, and views.
  2. The AI writes a proposal as a file in the _proposals folder of your data folder. The file describes all planned changes precisely.
  3. TandemLoop detects the new file and shows the proposal under Open—provided proposals are turned on.
  4. You review and decide—only then does anything change in your data.

The AI writes, you decide. The AI can create and revise proposals but can never approve or execute them itself. Execution is always up to you.

Where Does the AI Get Its Instructions?

The AI is an external tool that you start yourself—TandemLoop never calls an AI on its own. You give the tool its instructions through its own channel, such as a chat window or a terminal. It then reads your data folder and saves its suggestions as proposals. Connecting an AI Tool describes how to connect a tool; the technical rules for agents are in Working with AI Agents.

Several Proposals at Once

Several proposals can be open at the same time—from different agents or on different topics. TandemLoop shows them as separate cards. You work through them at your own pace, in any order.

No network needed to display them. Proposals are stored as files in your data folder. TandemLoop reads them directly—the app doesn’t need an active connection to an AI service to display them.

What Happens After Approval

As soon as you approve a proposal, TandemLoop executes all selected changes one after another—using the same internal services that process your manual actions. The result is the same as if you had made each change yourself; the display then updates automatically.
