Every view shows exactly one entity type: tasks, projects, or milestones. You set the content type in the view editor and can change it at any time.
The Three Content Types
| Content type | What the view shows | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Tasks | Individual tasks from the entire data folder | Daily planning, due-date lists, delegation, Inbox review |
| Projects | Projects with metrics from their tasks | Portfolio overview, project status across areas |
| Milestones | Milestones with due date and metrics | Release planning, tracking phases across several projects |
Tasks (Default)
Task mode is the starting point for most views. All layouts, filters, groupings, sort options, and sections are fully available here—including all virtual fields such as Overdue or Available.
Projects and Milestones
In project or milestone mode, the view shows one row per project or milestone, with metrics from the associated tasks, such as count and progress. Tasks an AI agent has handed back (For Review, Question) count as open.
Instead of the layout and filter editor, the view editor offers four selection fields here:
| Field | Options |
|---|---|
| Status | All, Active, Open (Not Completed), On Hold, Completed, Dropped |
| Sort By | None, Title, Completion Date, Creation Date, Date Modified, Due Date (milestones only), Progress (projects only), Task Count, Manual |
| Direction | ascending or descending |
| Grouping | Projects: Area, Folder, Status, Tags—milestones: Project, Area, Status, Tags, Due Date |
Project overview across areas. A project view shows you at a glance which projects are currently active and how far along they are—even when they’re in different areas.
Expandable sublist. With Turn on sublist, each row shows its tasks (for projects, optionally milestones) to expand. You choose what appears there with Subtype and Subfilter (Status); Collapsed by default keeps the sublists closed when the view opens.
