Milestones

Contents

Milestones divide a project into phases or interim goals—for example, “Concept,” “Implementation,” and “Launch” within a larger project. Each milestone has its own tasks and helps you see progress clearly.

Creating a Milestone

Milestones always belong to a specific project. You create them directly in the project:

Open project › Toolbar Milestone (or the M key) → type title → ↩︎

  1. Open the project (in the sidebar or by double-clicking the project card).
  2. Click Milestone in the toolbar, press M or ⌃⌥⌘N, or choose New Milestone in the project’s context menu.
  3. An input line appears below the existing milestones—type the title, then press ↩︎.

To create tasks in a milestone, use the + in the milestone’s header or right-click › New Task; the input line appears directly in the milestone (a collapsed milestone expands for this).

Renaming: Double-click the title, press ↩︎ with the milestone selected, or right-click › Rename. The context menu also offers Show in Project, Mark as Completed, status, due date, tags, copying the link, app link, or ID, Show in Finder, and Delete—in the same order as for tasks and projects.

Properties

The completion date is set automatically. Just as with projects and tasks, TandemLoop automatically enters the current timestamp when the status changes to Completed.

Differences from Projects

Project Milestone
Project Type (Sequential/Parallel) Yes No
Do Date / Due Date No Yes
Intent Yes No
Reference Folder Yes No
Order In the project list of the area or folder Shared with the project’s direct tasks (mixed outline)

Milestones and a project’s direct tasks share the same order. In the project outline, milestones and tasks created directly in the project appear in one list—you can freely sort them among each other with drag and drop.

Moving to Another Project

Drag a milestone onto another project in the sidebar. TandemLoop moves the milestone together with all its tasks.

Deleting

Deleting removes all tasks it contains. When you delete a milestone, all the tasks in it are deleted as well. On the Mac, the deleted files go to the Finder’s Trash and can be restored from there; on iPad and iPhone, deleting is permanent. TandemLoop asks for confirmation.
