The Proposal System

Revision Chains & Lifecycle

Contents

Every proposal goes through a clearly defined lifecycle. And when a new proposal replaces an older one, a revision chain is created—a traceable history of how a proposal evolved.

The Statuses at a Glance

Status Color Meaning
Pending Blue The proposal is waiting for your decision.
Revision Requested Orange You requested a revision, or part of the execution failed. It’s the AI’s turn.
Executed Green All selected changes were applied successfully.
Rejected Red You rejected the proposal. No changes were executed.
Superseded Gray A newer proposal has replaced this one.

Proposals with the status Pending and Revision Requested count as open and appear under Open and in the badge in the sidebar. The other three statuses count as closed and appear under Closed until you archive or delete them (see The Proposals Section).

Revision Chains

Sometimes a completely new proposal replaces an older one—for example, when you ask the AI to split a proposal into several separate ones.

In this case, the new proposal refers to its predecessor. The system:

  • sets the old proposal to the status Superseded,
  • records the link in both directions (old → new, new → old),
  • shows the Revision Chain section at the very top of both cards: In the new card, ← Previous Version takes you to the predecessor; in the old one, Replaced by → takes you to the successor. The target card expands, and the current one stays open.

In the new card, Changes from Previous Version also lists which changes are New, Removed, or Changed compared with the predecessor.

Revision chain: The newer proposal refers to its predecessor.

Revision vs. replacement. Most feedback leads to a revision—the AI changes the existing proposal directly without creating a new one. A true replacement (and with it a new card) happens only when the AI creates a new proposal at your explicit request.

From Pending to Executed—The Typical Path

  1. The AI creates the proposal → status Pending.
  2. You read, discuss, or ask for a revision → the status may change to Revision Requested.
  3. You approve → the status changes to Executed (or, after a partial failure, to Revision Requested).

An executed proposal can’t be reversed as a whole. If you want to correct an executed change, make a counteraction manually or ask the AI for a new proposal.
